What to Expect

What can you expect from an appointment: The first few appointments we will get to know each other better. We will discuss medical and psychiatric history, family history, & signs and symptoms. I often administer psychological tests during this time to assist me in formulating a diagnosis. Once a diagnosis is made, we will discuss treatment options. I will give you many medication options and discuss the action of the medication, side effects, and risks versus benefits. Ultimately it is up to you to decide how you would like to proceed with treatment. INTAKE SESSIONS: Intake sessions last about an hour and are completed in 1 or 2 appointments. We will discuss medical and psychiatric history, past and present substance use, previous medication trials and current medication regimen. We will review current psychiatric symptoms and develop a treatment plan together. FOLLOWUP APPOINTMENTS: Follow up appointments are typically 30 minutes. We will discuss your current psychiatric symptoms and your progress towards your treatment goals.
